Argentinian pianist Ingrid Fliter is to replace Alexander Gavrylyuk as soloist for Chopin's Piano Concerto No.2 in an otherwise unchanged programme on 19 October in the Ulster Hall, as the latter is unfortunately indisposed due to illness.
Born in Buenos Aires in 1973, Ingrid Fliter began her piano studies with Elizabeth Westerkamp. In 1992 she moved to Europe to continue her studies. Ms. Fliter began playing recitals aged eleven and made her professional orchestra debut aged 16 and has won competitions in Argentina, Italy and Warsaw. She has been teaching at the Imola International Academy ‘Incontri col Maestro’ since 2015. She was winner of the 2006 Gilmore Artist Award, one of only a handful of pianists and the only woman to have received this honour.
In Europe and Asia, Ingrid Fliter has performed with orchestras and in recital in Amsterdam, London, Berlin and Salzburg and participated in festivals such as the Prague Autumn and World Pianist Series (Tokyo). Recent international engagements include appearances with the Rotterdam, Hong Kong, Osaka, Helsinki and Royal Stockholm Philharmonics, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony, the BBC Proms, the CBSO and the Scottish and Swedish Chamber Orchestras.
Ms Fliter made her American orchestral debut with the Atlanta Symphony in 2006. Since then she has appeared with the San Francisco, Detroit, Seattle, Vancouver, Puerto Rico and Utah symphonies and the National Arts Centre Orchestra among others, as well as at the Mostly Mozart, Grant Park, Aspen and Ravinia summer festivals. As a recitalist, Ms. Fliter has performed in Carnegie’s Zankel Hall and Chicago’s Orchestra Hall, among others, and for the Van Cliburn Foundation in Fort Worth.
Recent and upcoming performances include her debut with the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood, re-engagements with the Toronto, Dallas, Vancouver, New World symphonies and first appearances with the Rochester and Louisiana Philharmonics, a tour of Spain with the RSNO and a tour to Australia.
Ingrid Fliter has made a number of recordings of Chopin, including both Chopin concertos with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra/Jun Maerkl, for Linn Records. Her most recent EMI recording is an all-Beethoven CD. Live recordings of Ms. Fliter performing works by Beethoven and Chopin at the Concertgebouw are available on VAI Audio. Her most recent recording for Linn Records of the complete Chopin Nocturnes was released in September 2018.
