Introducing our 2024/25 Concert Season

Escape Your Everyday with the Ulster Orchestra’s new season of music

The Ulster Orchestra’s 2024/25 Season is now on sale, so it’s time to take a step out of everyday life and start an exciting journey of music. There’s nothing quite like being immersed in the incredible musical world of a live orchestra, so give yourself a night to remember! Full details of all concerts and links to book can be found at www.ulsterorchestra.org.uk/whats-on.

We start 2024/25 on Friday 20 September in the company of a walking wayfarer, making peace with a tempestuous past and striding confidently into the future – that wayfarer’s ‘New Beginnings’ in Mahler’s Symphony No.1 chime with the start of a new chapter for the Ulster Orchestra, in their first season without Daniele Rustioni at the helm. Pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason joins conductor Eduardo Strausser, with Isata fresh from opening the 2024 BBC Proms.

Other artists joining the Ulster Orchestra following BBC Proms appearances are pianists Sir Stephen Hough, Clare Hammond and Steven Osborne, and of course, the Ulster Orchestra will also be delighted to welcome back Daniele Rustioni following a BBC Proms performance together in the Royal Albert Hall on 18 August 2024.

Newer fellow-travellers include Angela Hewitt, Nicolas AltstaedtNadège Rochat, Anna Sułkowska-Migoń and Chloé van Soeterstède and we also enjoy familiar company with the likes of Michael CollinsBarry Douglas, Rosanne Philippens and Honorary Principal Guest Conductor Jac van Steen.

One of our longest-serving companions, Belfast Philharmonic Choir, celebrates a phenomenal anniversary and marks their 150th Season (one of only a handful of choral societies with such a lengthy unbroken performance record) with the work that the choir sang at their inaugural performance in 1874, Mendelssohn’s Elijah.

There are other exciting trips in store too, so why not make a ‘Highland Journey’ with David Danzmayr, spend time in ‘The Great Outdoors’ with Ben Goldscheider, have a riotous night in a jazz club with Peter Moore or spend ‘April in Paris’ with Fiona Monbet

In the Waterfront Hall, we’ll be looking forward to more spectacular nights out as we present - Worlds of FantasyThe Rat PackEssentially Broadway and the Epic Film Scores of Hans Zimmer & John Williams.

No Christmas would be complete without our annual performances of The SnowmanMessiah and The Magic of Christmas and Easter brings the soloists and chorus of NI Opera to perform Haydn’s deeply contemplative Seven Last Words of Christ for Good Friday.
